Israeli Folk Dancing!
Last Sunday, March 5th was 30th Boston Israeli Folk Dance festval. As part of group "Firelech", I was a participant. I had more positive impression from the performances then last year. There were a couple of groups from NY, one from Medison, Wisconsin and on from LA. LA was good, but I did not have to watch their whole number. My favorite group was (not surprising) "Zikukim" - most professional, very interesting music choice. Brandeis' "Beyachad" was also very good, but I foudn their choreography to be closer to simple modern ballet, not much jewishness or israeliness. "Parparim" also left a very good impression. However many other groups I found a little disappointing - dancers were missign something, not sure what. Some looked like their soul was not into dancing. And some maybe need a bit more practice.|
But over all, the festival was very much a success. Kresge theater at MIT (~1200 seats) was packed. There was a Israeli fair at the entrance. I am sure everybody who came to watch were glad they did.
